Enter the biggest dig of my competitive career 😮 Cardio wise I simply walk 30 miles a week...boring and slow..extra slow these days.

I'm approaching levels of conditioning that should surpass my 2011 and 2014 effort within the next two weeks. My best levels of conditioning took place in 2008 when I was a hungry hungry amateur...literally and figuratively. This time I plan on keeping all my muscle though!

Again thank you for all the positivity and encouragement. I will leave a final product this year that I can be proud of for years to come, and that will confirm how much you guys believe in me. 🙏

Proof that you can be both vascular and flat, and thus why your aim on show day should not be as vascular as possible. The goal should full, but not overly(spilled over) full that you lose separation and detail. Vascularity is often a side effect of you getting all the variables of a peak right, but you can also be spilled or flat while being very vascular.

In this pic we are flat as can be as the last four low days have left me severely depleted. A nice string of high days starging tomorrow and everything from mood to training should pick up immensely. Haven't posted in a while because I have been so busy, and haven't been able to get any content worth posting. Unfortunately, my back injury got worse which means I won't be doing nationals this year. Primary focus is to fix the injury so I can focus on getting stronger. It's refreshing to be able to do something aside from squat, bench, and deadlift since I don't have to worry about preparing for nationals. These are some of the movements I did this week. ---------------------
3x12 belt squat - 420lbs
4x8 Partial ROM back squat - 285lbs

I typically use Saturdays to finish up the accessory training that I don't have time to complete during the week. While this training session varies slightly depending on what I'm able to accomplish Mon-Fri, it usually looks pretty similar. In other words, my microcycles usually only vary by a couple of exercises being swapped around to different days. The main lifts are almost always held constant.

While flexible nonlinear periodization (moving training days around based on feel) is a great tool, MOST of the time you should probably be keeping your training schedule very consistent. This will engrain training consistency and keep fatigue consistent between sessions on a weekly basis.

If you start moving things around too much, there's a good chance you'll wind up just skipping certain movements - or you'll put yourself in a hole where it's impossible to finish all of the work for the week. It is also somewhat common for people to say, "Well, I am beat up today so I will give myself a couple extra days of rest before my next squat session." Don't get me wrong, there is certainly a time and place for this, but again, doing this too frequently will make your fatigue between sessions very inconsistent. Some sessions might be super easy because you've essentially given yourself a mini-taper while others feel impossible because you have to squeeze the training in without much time to recover.

Lastly, keep in mind that achieving complete recovery and feeling great each session is simply not realistic - nor should it be he primary goal within the middle of a mesocycle. You're probably going to be mildly under-recovered (if we say that a taper would yield 100% recovery) most of the time. Motivation to training today, solid 3/10. Didn't get adequate sleep lastnight, roughly ~5 hours or less, gym was closed at MWSU and nobody knew until we got there so I made a trip for no reason. But I went in and got it done anyway!

Erectors were a bit sore from yesterday, pair that with the lack of sleep and these were some rough sets or squats and bench. The 5th set of squats with 255lbs which was the best out of them all and I managed to get 5 reps since it was my AMRAP set. Bench press was off every set today as the bench height was off so it took me quite a bit to get the bar off the rack and I misgrooved my second rep but I was still able to get 5 reps on the bench press with 210lbs. The loads for the squat and bench press will slightly be upped next week, but nothing to major. Overall, I'm satisfied with today given the circumstances. Tomorrow's a rest day then we're back at it Monday! Have a great rest of your weekend!
