On a good, loud and sunny Delhi afternoon, it was nice to witness a baker fit to be a smart townie. A baker bursting with the right mix of energy for showcasing her sinful offerings in a plaza filled with callous food trucks unlike the spirit of a festival though I enjoyed the festival overall.
Talent is a gift. Hard work is all about nurturing the gift. Talent without backing it with efforts is a curse. Hard work without talent is futile. Worldly success isn't necessarily a reflection of talent and hard work.
In this world of echo chambers with an ever increasing number of the unknown many, it is important to voice out. To call out attention after hard-work is a part of doing ones best and leaving the rest in even the Indian culinary scene today.
At Delhi's Food Truck Fest, Horn OK Please, there was a girl bubbling with energy for her kiosk to get maximum footfalls. Remember how the local shops of the old days, the small proprietors and the vendors of a market call out consumers to give their offerings a try at least? It could be a disaster in the new age as it infuriates the 'gentry'. @kishneetsethi knows when to call out attention. And she tops it up with confidence in conversation and looking straight in the eye. Good bakers with good marketing skills and a touch of humility are destined to spread smiles wherever they go. I was absolutely lost in the confidence of this baker and didn't even figure out the name of this beaut of a dessert recommended to me by Kishneet in the first instance. As if I were startled awake from a deep sleep after waiting 40 minutes for digging into the Chicken Pita Pockets at the What the Fork truck.
This is the Date and Walnut Cake with Salted Caramel Sauce from @sugarloftindia . The secret lies in all the warmth of the sticky sauce which is synergistic with the dryness of the cake that is finely baked to release earthy flavors of the namesake dry fruits shining through in every crumble of this divine dessert. Kishneet's sugary marketing skills added to the pleasure of digging into this sugary rich goodness.
The right dollop of skills is rare just like the right mix of fine ingredients.
Follow my food journey. Cheers!
