"I think you'll quickly see a difference but there's no quick fix. This is forever but it gets easier as she learns coping mechanisms. I have kids that come back and see me over the summer when they come home from college to learn new coping mechanisms. I'm not saying you two don't have a heart problem and butt heads, you probably do. But I am saying she's not lazy. She's not lazy at all. She's a smart child. This is just exhausting work for her. So many moving parts. But I think you'll be pleased with progress in a short period of time after we get to work together, all 3 of us." I caught a glimpse of this neatly sitting on her nightstand and I couldn't help but smile. She's felt defeated, different for so long yet she keeps life priorities in perspective! Its absolutely lovely to catch a glimpse of her independence, effort, motivation...slowly...she's finding her sparkle again!! Parents/guardians - Be diligent. Pay attention. Cling to patience. Show love. Never hesitate to reach out, ask questions, seek help for you or your child (you are their best advocate!) and never underestimate the power of prayer. I'm learning what she already knew- she sees the world different than most and I'm so thankful to get a discerning view of the world through her lens as we walk this path hand in hand. Lean on each other. Laugh with each other. Cry with each other. Smile with each other. Learn with each other.
We are all created different yet we are all still created in the image of God.
