Oh man, I am so, so excited that 10CC are coming back to Melbourne! I saw them in 2015 and it was, without a doubt, one of the greatest gigs I've ever been to. It's in my all time top 5 for sure. They were so mind-blowingly good I could barely comprehend it. They played more or less every single song I wanted to hear and not only that, but they performed them with this awesome energy that just completely took me by surprise. I guess that's one of the benefits of going to a gig with absolutely no expectation of how it's going to sound (I'd only ever listened to their records, I'd never watched any live videos or anything). Although 10CC had a few hits in the 70s and they haven't been forgotten by any means, they remain criminally underrated and deserve way more praise than they currently (or ever did) receive. Their records are kind of considered bargain bin filler nowadays, which sucks for the their reputation but is great for everyone else because it means anybody can quickly collect their whole discography and start wading through the endless deep cuts to discover awesome tracks like 'Good Morning Judge', 'Feel the Benefit Parts 1, 2 & 3', 'Clockwork Creep', 'The Dean & I', 'Baron Samedi', 'The Anonymous Alcoholic' and 'Speed Kills' (man, there are so many, I could go on....so I will), 'Life is a Minestrone', 'Oh Effendi', 'The Sacro-iliac' and 'Une Nuit A Paris Parts 1, 2 & 3'. Deceptive Bends is my go to album whenever I need some 10CC in my life (quite often), but I have a feeling all of their records are going to be on high rotation over the next couple of months!
