Day 4 of 7 Gifts from the Heart
Here is a teaser for what to expect at the "Gifts From the Heart Shopping event". Today we are featuring recycled sari throws. "Recycled saris patched with love. The Hajiganj Project works with marginalized people in the Nilphamari District, one of the poorest areas of Bangladesh. Hajiganj offers an alternative to dependency on low wages from wealthy land-owners." On Friday December 8th, between 9:30 a.m.- 1:30 p.m. Dearcroft family and friends are invited to join us as we host a shopping event Ten Thousand Villages, in the Junior High classroom.
Our Senior Elementary and Junior High students are excited to act as your hosts at the event, and will be working as cashiers and baristas as well as providing a gift wrapping service.
You can look forward to: - Hand-crafted items from Ten Thousand Villages
- Creations made by Dearcroft students
- Baked treats packaged to take home
- Fair-trade coffee, tea & hot chocolate
- Barefoot Books
- Gift Wrapping Available
- Cash payment (no debit available)
- Visa/MC only available for Ten Thousand Villages purchases
Ten Thousand Villages is a volunteer based non-profit organization that works to empower artisans in developing countries through long term business relationships. All proceeds from the event will go to the Gift of Hope funds which support designated funds for equipment purchases or emergency needs of artisans. Their fair trade philosophy helps to empower marginalized populations by supporting their craft and providing a fair, stable income, enabling kids to spend their time in school instead of working.
