MCU/Fox Discussion • Part 3 of 3 • Deadpool • Perhaps one of the most controversial aspects of the Disney/Fox buyout was how it would affect the more adult oriented properties that #Fox offers such as #Logan, but more specifically #Deadpool -which is currently producing a sequel. According to #Disney’s CEO - they do not intend to present audiences with a watered-down, family friendly version of the #MercWithAMouth, opting instead to keep the R-Rating for the sequel. • This is interesting because, to my knowledge, there has never been an R-Rated film produced by Disney (though I could be wrong). I can say with certainty that no film in the MCU has ever been given an R rating - which begs the questions, will this be the film to break the PG-13 streak, or will this not be a part of the MCU? • It’s not as though it would be a bad idea to keep Deadpool far away from the established MCU, in the same way they have with properties such as #Daredevil, #JessicaJones, & #ThePunisher. With Deadpool he could reference all of our favorite heroes, but as far as any direct interaction, it might be best to keep him away. I know a lot of people want to see Deadpool & #Spiderman together, but if you’re not okay with a more politically correct version of him, then it’s best to just avoid it. • Now, while #Deadpool2 is a go, I highly doubt we’ll see a Trilogy for our favorite foul-mouthed anti-hero. Continuin with this sequel makes sense because it would be a substantial waste of money to simply scrap it at this point; not only that, but the backlash they would receive from the thousands of fans would not be the best start to this substantial change. But, as far as continuing with the Deadpool series, I’m thinking it’ll be very unlikely - as well as the idea of getting more adult-oriented films’ like Logan. Adult films from Disney might make shareholders uneasy - it’s hard to maintain that family friendly vibe when your superheroes are trying to “blow” the Matterhorn. • Let me know what you all think in the comments! • And now back to your regularly scheduled feed!
