I had this whole long caption typed out about compass pose and finding your true north and other happy horseshit like that.

I love teaching compass pose and drawing in thematic elements of that magnetic pull toward whatever your north may be. Whatever drives you up and out of the proverbial muck. It’s all well and good. The good intentions are there. People want to be inspired and feel the draw toward positivity. Even walking through Target this morning I saw a t shirt that read: “Always Be Positive”. Mmkay. I get it. Good vibes only. Blah blah.

We’re inundated these days with a “no bad days” mentality. Just smile. Fake it til you make it. I get that sometimes. Occasionally you just have to put on a happy face and power through. But there are times when it’s not only ok but beneficial to sink into the darkness. To let yourself go south. To not continually push away and ignore the shadow part of yourself.
.

When you allow it in and let yourself know, understand, and love ALL parts of yourself, it suddenly becomes a hell of a lot easier to stay on your path northward.
.

So don’t ignore. Don’t shove down. Don’t pretend like the shadow doesn’t exist. It’ll keep bubbling up and dragging you back unless you face it head on and say, “Hey. Let’s be friends.” Remember, there’s no way to see the light without the dark. 🖤✨

Yin yoga is a slow-paced class with postures held for longer periods of time. The majority of poses are held low to the ground. Yin yoga poses apply moderate stress to the connective tissues of the body - the tendons, fascia, and ligaments - with the aim of increasing circulation in the joints and improving flexibility. The slower pace may also leave you cultivating a meditative mindset and is a wonderful compliment to your active exercise routine. .
