Fun #backday with my boo @lbosko2 . Dead stop #dbrows on the menu. Wanted to us @brickhausfitness 175's. Hit these for 8's for 2 sets after 150x8 and 125 x 8. Feeling stronger.

Never leave the gym without performing some good O DB Bent-over Rows. I've always made sure these were in my regimen routine. Goal for me with this workout is to target and focus on my mid back depth, upper lat thickness, and Teres major. So when you hit that back pose your middle section of your back will pop.
So really aiming to go up in weight each week being that this is Compound Strength move for my clean bulk. But I usually keep this workout in all the way through my cut phase as well. Have to definitely get my lbs back up to 150s.
I usually go lower to bend over alil more but didn't have my belt today. USE A BELT👍🏽

I've been experimenting with different variations for this exercise, as I often don't get good engagement in my lats when I do these. I've always rowed more up than back, which tended to make my traps take over. Not really what I'm going for.

Now, as you can see, I'm rowing more back than up. I think about getting a good stretch in the bottom position, then driving my elbow back towards my hip in more of a scooping motion. Made a huge difference. 👌🏻

Making progress in the physique game is all about experimenting. Exercise execution need not always be so black and white. Sure it's important to stick to the basic tenants of proper form, but once you've got that dialed in, feel free to play around with different hand/foot positions, angles, tempos, ranges of motion, etc. until you find what best allows you to feel the target muscle working most effectively. We are all built differently, so the technique that works for one person might not work for you. And that's ok, so long as you can find one that keeps you safe while still allowing for the desired training effect.

Having a hard time with Dummbell rows? Give these 2 variations a try. The 1st is creating tension with a foam roller which helps initiate anterior core and set your shoulders. Squeeze the roller into your leg with your arm. The 2nd is a pull down with a band to initiate anterior core and scapula retraction. @ThatLong is in his off season running @LPC Program Flókis Prophecy V1.0, Heavy DB rows are a great exercise to improve back thickness and the added strength lends over too other back movements too.

Boom - some DB rowing today. Haven't done these in a while - mostly been focusing on deadlifts, and then also some pullups when I wanna do some type of lat work.

I love this exercise, but one reason I stopped doing it so frequently and heavy, was that I felt it caused too much strain on the biceps tendon as I got stronger. This would cause inflammation - and I needed to back off after a while. I did this exercise with 80-90 kilos last winter, and it ended up giving me pain in the arms, so bad that I knew I had to back off to avoid potential injury. My back, especially traps, grew tho - but not so much in the lats region. Now I just lower the weight, forget about the weight, focus on squeezing and stretching... And it seems to work just fine. That way, I can still do it, but it won't fuck with tendons and shit. It's kinda like the dumbbell chest flies - amazing movement, but you can't do it too heavy, or you'll risk messing up the shoulders big time. Just focus on the feel only, and it'll do wonders over time.

If there had to be a #1 exercise I see done wrong on a daily basis in the gym, it's single arm DB rows. I thought I'd invented this exercise but apparently I didn't - But you'll rarely see anyone do it, ever. Anywho, the idea is to maximize scapular recruitment while executing a DB row. I exaggerate the angle to encourage the movement to flow towards my hips. Some might say I'm not executing a "proper row". And I'm not. The point of doing it this way is to make sure that when I do an actual, proper DB row, I #row towards my hip instead of pulling up too high towards my rib cage by simply flexing my bicep. Driving the shoulders back and pulling towards your hips will always engage more of your back muscles than any variation of elbow flexion ever could. This is a great exercise I use on beginners to emphasize the proper angles to pull on. And I use it myself to just get a good retraction in my back. So give this one a try, we call it the Garck Row. #back #scapularretraction #dbrows
