Quick Thoughts (D.E.A.R.): Daredevil number 9➡15 (1998-2011 series). Cover by: David Mack, Joe Quesada. 👿spoilers ahead👿. I wish the character Maya Lopez appeared more often in comics. I'm impressed after seeing the character in New Avengers (the first series) and these issues of Daredevil. (Side note: she appears in Charles Soule's run). In this arc ("Parts of a Hole") she's quite the match with Matt Murdock (romantically) and against Daredevil (she was deceived into thinking he murdered her father). Maya, Kingpin and Matt/Daredevil all get good emphasis or "screentime". And even Foggy as well; it put a smile on my face to see him have a winning streak in the courtroom. .
The 12th issue: based solely on Kingpin's inner monologue about playing the game, being the strongest, knowing or analyzing the prey - it's fantastic. Give that to Vincent D'Onofrio as a dramatic speech moment if he shows up in the 3rd season of Daredevil, or the 1st season of Punisher. Maya/Echo has a strong debut in this arc, the story moves at a good pace, and I love the vivid thoughts or descriptions from the character. The blend of art styles is superb; the backgrounds, frames and child-like drawings further enhance Maya's story. and Richard Isanove's colors: wow.. top notch.
