The WBC has once again allowed Adonis Stevenson (29-1, 24 KOs) to make another step-aside deal with longtime mandatory challenger Eleider Alvarez (23-0, 11 KOs) in order to face Badou Jack (22-1-2, 13 KOs).
Stevenson has not made a mandatory defense of his WBC Light Heavyweight title since stopping Toney Bellew back in November of 2013. Eleider Alvarez has now been Stevenson’s mandatory challenger since 2015, and has fought four times since awaiting the WBC title shot.
The WBC has allowed Adonis Stevenson to hold their 175 lb title for over 4 years without fighting 1 mandatory opponent. So, why is it that Canelo was threatened of being stripped of his title after just 1 voluntary title defense back in 2016? Hmmmm... 🤔.
Thank you Al Haymon 😎.
