When I was in Jr. High I used to use the original Dave's insanity sauce with a scoville rating of 50,000. I used to put a drop or two in my ramen or on my sandwiches to build up a tolerance to hot foods and freak out my friends.
Since I've been watching so much Hot Ones, when I saw this on the shelf, I had to get it. This sauce has a scoville rating hovering around 800,000 - 1,000,000. I knew that when I tried a spoonful it would be bad, but I didn't realize how bad. The capsaicin hit hard and fast with a smokey, peppery, and garlicy punch to the tongue. Unfortunately, I was fooled into thinking that was the extent of it; It wasn't.
The heat continued to build on top of the already intense fire blazing in my mouth. I reached for honey, coconut oil, and milk, none of which seemed to do anything at all. It wasn't until after I tried to tame the heat, that the sauce dialed up the pain with a sinister laugh and some napalm.
For 15 minutes the pain persisted; increasing with each word I spoke. As I tried to describe the sensations and experience to my roommate Jordan, I focused on not dying. When the heat finally started to die down, I felt better than I had before. The headache, congestion, and tiredness, from whatever sickness I was feeling had cleared up. I had endured and come through stronger.
I've decided that I need to order some hotter hot sauces and try them out. Certainly I'll try to get my hands on The Last Dab with a rating of 2,000,000+., But i am curious, Does anyone have any hot sauce suggestions?
