Dark skinned goddesses,
How have they hurt you?
They called me names,
Gagak (crow), black goat, muka tar (tar face), keling hitam.. to name a few.
As a kid, they made me scrub myself a lil longer, to wash away the black.
Once an aunt told me, “You are so sweet. If only you were fair”. Because that is what you tell a 10 year old child. I prayed so many nights that I would wake up and have skin as fair as Snow White, but God let me down.
Superstar Rajni will be out there preaching about his dark skin, but chooses to only act with light skinned actresses (until recently). Even Rajnikanth let me down.
Disappointing isn’t it?
If you hate you dark skin, I want you to do this right now. Take a look at you. Feel that rich chocolate skin between your fingers. See in it the abundance of melanin that stores the energy of the sun. Wipe away all the hurtful words off the surface of your skin. They may not see your beauty, but I NEED you to see it first. For you are just perfect, KARRUTAMMA.
