I drew this one back in 2013, but upon hearing that my favorite band, @TigerArmy will be covering this song for their new EP, I felt it was appropriate to repost. #DarkParadise was my favorite song from the "Born To Die" album. It always inspired morbidly romantic images in my imagination, and here's my attempt at putting those images on paper. I pretty much just took one of @LanaDelRey's photos from her appearance on GQ and drew in the hands of a skeleton/zombie/ghost. It's a theme I've explored over and over in my art, the one of love beyond death, and i feel like it comes through in this drawing most. Her face, emoting passionately painful pleasure, embracing his cold touch, while also being bound by the branches (representing the cyclical life/death of romance), is meant to symbolize the inescapable hold that a lost love forever retains. Swipe through to see the details of the drawing, as well as what it looked like before I stitched it together digitally.
