This years Airfix preorder couldn't have arrived at a better time: The newly tooled Airfix 1/72 scale Vickers Wallington Mk.Ia/c. Intending to modify this kit to accommodate an extra figure depicting the bombers designer, engineer, Sir Barnes Wallis CBE, FRS, FRS, RDI, FRAeS, testing out his "golf-mine" bouncing bomb prototype, at Chesil Beach in Dorset, England, on the 4th of December, 1942.
Reference work for a project I have nearly completed . This is the Petwood Hotel in Woodhall Spa , Lincolnshire. With my Tiercel peregrine pictured in the foreground. The hotel has an interesting past linked with both world wars it was used as a hospital during the Great War. Then in the 40’s it became home of the legendary 617 Squadron of Dam-busters fame . Occupied from 1942, it was originally home to officers of the 97 and 619 squadrons, but with nearby Woodhall Airfield chosen as the operational base, 619 squadron moved away and the officers of 617 moved in. Lancaster Bomber memorabilia adorn the walls throughout the hotel. In more recent times it has hosted the international field meet for the British Falconers Club for many years . So in all it has a strong past associated with it of flying machines both natural and man made . #petwoodhotelwoodhallspa#linolnshire#britishfalconersclub#dambusters#lancaster#guygibson#617squadron#peregrinefalcon
