The way I see it is this: children are like sponges. They soak in information and learn quickly. So, in order for that child to grow up with kindness, we must enforce the idea that if we can treat an animal with compassion, then ultimately they know that they are supposed to treat every living being with love and kindness. They will understand that all living creatures matter, no matter how small or big. If they can treat an animal with love, then they won't care if you are white, black, yellow, red...we are all equals. Teaching children how to eat animals just tells them that it is OK to discriminate. That is why we still see racism, murder, violence, etc. If we teach them at a young age what it is to love, they will grow up to not discriminate. Everything is connected; a serial killer murders without remorse bc he/she cannot make the connection. They were taught at a young age that it is OK to be violent. It is OK to kill animals (they start off by killing small ones then move their way up to humans).
