TO THE HATE THAT EXISTS IN OUR WORLD:
The past year has shown us an unprecedented amount of bigotry, racism, prejudice and fear mongering. This culture of hate and divisiveness seems to be ever present and has culminated in innumerous acts of violence including fatal riots, threats of war, hate crimes and multiple school shootings. It has led to segregation based on the way we look, our cultural backgrounds and religious beliefs. It has resulted in us discussing building walls, burning bridges and isolating ourselves.
This has evoked a great sense of anger in many and a deep sense of sadness and disappointment in others. However, it has given all of us a great sense of unity against what we’ve realized is a deep social injustice. As we stand hand in hand, we’ve formed a chain that is unbreakable and incorruptible. We’ve vowed to vehemently fight with our calm minds and peaceful protests to protect basic rights and dignity for all. Although if it weren’t for the hate, I’m not sure if we would have realized the full extent of our strength, kindness and togetherness.
To all those who continue to operate on a culture of divisiveness and fear and who perpetuate the racism, prejudice and bigotry (president or otherwise), I tell you this:
Hate is a disease that plagues our very core. With its viscous malignancy it blinds us from the truth, debilitates us from sharing our highest self and erodes into an ever deepening wound of hurt. I hope you never experience the full extent of the pain your hurt can cause you but I fear you already have. I’ve thanked you for allowing us to experience the sense of unity but I pray that you are able to rid yourself of this pain
HEAL YOUR HURT, LET GO OF YOUR HATE
