It never gets easier- watching your child sedated for an MRI is heart breaking as you watch them drift of into a forced sleep. Watching the clock for the next 2 hours with each second seeming like an hour...But weighing up the reason we have to do this far out weighs the reason to not.
Today, we will know if the anachroid cyst that remains in #emersongrant2014 spine has grown any larger since August 2017; is compressing against his spinal nerve or is allowing us a little more time before major high risk surgery is required.
This past few weeks we have been blessed with Emerson, he has been shining, breathing, eating, drinking, laughing, being cheeky and whizzing around in his wheelchair. We even managed some free time after therapy to visit the Zoo and enjoy a halloween party and the beautiful scenery in Philadelphia.
People who don’t know his story would look at him stating how well he looks, they can’t see his illness, medical issues. All they see is this smiling blue eyed boy with lots of energy, just like any other 2 year old toddler but in a wheelchair.
I would be quite content if our lives continued like this, but sadly we know his medical issues will need to be dealt with sooner than later to prevent him losing his mobility in his hands, arms and damage to the central nervous system and brain.
60 long minutes have passed now - half way there waiting for our beautiful boy to wake up...and then consultation with the neuro surgeon to discuss what he see’s and advise on a action plan.
