I love to run. It clears my mind, it lets me breathe. I love it so much that I will often times run through injuries (a little too long). After struggling with a pain in my heel for a week or so, and running through the pain: I was stopped in my steps and not able to take another step forward. In fact, if anything even touched my heel I would scream.
So: I did what any right minded😂😉 runner would do:
I outlined what was hurting me,
asked my husband to #CutItOut.
He gave me a look, and but realized I was serious.
Then : I ran six miles, and 5 the next day and have been running in it it ever since.
This open shoe... has allowed me to think deeply and open up about what else in my day, my life, my social media that might be pressing up against me and my heart and causing me pain or discomfort. Where else did and do I need to #CutItOut !? 😊
Did it look like placing certain apps on my second or third screen so that they did not get priority in my mind and heart: yes.
Do I need to #CutItOut when it comes to holding my phone so close that any buzz can distract me from my current moment- in order to let in a presence and attention to detail- yes.
Does it look like finishing a task and cutting out procrastination in order to display a personal perseverance.
Did it mean i needed to #cutItOut when it comes to checking the latest news updates first and instead getting in scripture first thing in the morning to fill the space with truth. Yes.
Did it mean ditching fear and seeking faith when things get tough. You bet.
What else is causing me to be distracted rather than present, doubtful rather than trusting. Encouraging to self rather than being so self-condemning.
So in this spring season, I am so thankful to have a fresh look at what things are keeping me from moving forward in the right direction, or causing me pain with each step- and the courage to know when to #CutItOut and make room for lots of grace and mercy and peace and gratitude and truth and trust and joy.
;a special thanks to @scottsauls and @anniefdowns for allowing me to share a little of this last night! Psalm 16:11 @pos_project
