1 year ago today I made my first handmade collage with a new sense of purpose in trying to be a collage artist. Earlier in 2017 I came up with the name Collage The World, I made my girlfriend a birthday collage, and I made a few slaps. But on July 16, 2017 I used rubber cement for the first time (instead of a glue stick), and I set out to cut and paste, create, and… collage the world!
It wasn’t until January 2018 that I really picked up steam and started making numerous collages a week. But time is just numbers, and art is forever. Or something.
I was going to try and make a video of all my pieces using iMovie, but I don’t know how, so here is a handmade video of my portfolio.
Most of these are the original collages, but some are printed out versions from my basic homemade printer. 4 of the pieces are collaborations: 2 with @mixedmessagesclub, and 2 with @fon_something. The rest are all by me.
I have found great satisfaction and happiness in collaging! Creating with my hands and opening my mind continues to be a rewarding adventure.
Thanks to everyone who enjoys my art and thanks to all of the artists past and present that inspire me to keep going!
Collage is an awesome medium for all ages from very young to very old and everyone in between. If you are looking for something new to brighten your life, grab some magazines, scissors and glue, and ride the wave!
