If you missed the making process of this breathtaking custom Australian Crystal Opal ring, here it is!
First the hand cut bezel from silver sheet is soldered, pickled and then formed perfectly around the opal, then soldered to the back plate as you can see in the next photo. The excess is then cut off, sanded and filed. Then I drilled a hole for the piercing saw to be able to cut out a window on the back plate, as Allison wanted to expose the stunning underside of the opal, which is just as full of fire and colour, making it very rare. I then personalised the ring band and soldered to the setting. Altered the bezel to the perfect height for the opal, then lots of sanding, pre polishing and polishing before setting this beauty and finishing with a final flawless polish. That’s a brief overview of the main processes that went into making this custom ring, hours and hours of love and handcraft go into each and every @marymcmillanjewellery piece, by my hands and heart only 💙💚💙
