...I get so excited as both a coach and an athlete about the next stage of each season! But if there’s one thing Ive learned over the past few years is how important rest and recovery is both for the body and the mind. This is especially important for multi sport athletes; we need a transition period to let overused muscles rest, and underused muscles get reacquainted to your second sport. .

It’s about being honest with yourself with how you feel going into the off season. Some athletes need a week, and some need 2 or 3 to get in off season mode. Both are acceptable! #empoweredperformance #curling #offszn18🥌

“The first part of the OFF-season is taking time OFF.
A great lesson from coach @cal.dietz that I always remembered was you cannot consider yourself “trained” if you don’t recover. What Coach Dietz is saying is that if you are trying to train to improve/train a quality, such as your aerobic system, then to fully train it and improve you must recover from the training.
So if you need some time to rest and recover. Take it. And don’t ever feel bad for it. 🙏🏻

In all seriousness direct arm work is typically a component in most programs. It is also one that is often beat to death with excessive volume and redundant exercises.

For arm training focus more on constant tension through a full range of motion. Keep in mind that with many pulling movements used to train your back, your biceps will also get hit. Pressing movements will work your triceps to a large degree as well.

If core compound lifts such as bench presses and overhead presses are getting stronger, it likely means your arms will be getting stronger as well and also growing.

The vast majority of “gym bros” hitting sets of arms all day would greatly benefit from more overall form/technique work on main compound lifts and a reduction in excessive arm volume.
