My valentine this year is named Colin, although to many he's Bear. Bear has Angelman Syndrome, a rare genetic disorder that is incredibly close to a cure through advanced research. Tomorrow is International Angelman Day and our hope is create more awareness around Angelman Syndrome and the ground-breaking exploration to cure it.
Bear continues to the defy the limits of this disorder with hard work and determination, with the dedication and courage of his parents. Just like any other toddler, Bear loves. He's goofy and plays. He has opinions and tests the world around him. To watch his journey is inspiring. But the truth is everyday activities and health issues are a challenge for Bear and his family, and he deserves so much more than what Angelman Syndrome has to offer. With more awareness and resources, a cure for Bear will happen. He will be unstoppable.
