Yesterday Serena asked me a very simple question. She said she had recently heard that #bitch is a bad word and she doesn't understand why? She asked me if it means anything different then a female puppy and I told her no not really but it is used as a slang word in many cultures. Then she asked me why and it made me pause for a second and then I explained to her that in all societies at some point being a woman was less than being a man and also and also In a lot of societies even today dogs are looked down upon. So calling someone a bitch would be the ultimate disrespect.
As I was talking to her I realized that these words play a bigger role than we think. They are still there to put a lore standard subconsciously in societies mind. I don't know why and how it becomes culturally appropriate to label these things as insults and slurs but it is about time we start changing this mindset.
Since the #change in #society comes from all of us I am doing my part to educate myself and my #daughter by understanding and realizing that there is nothing wrong with being a bitch. Actually I think it's a wonderful thing to be. I think being a female dog is brave, strong, loyal and beautiful.
So yes I will always be a badass bitch and will teach my daughter to never give into #cultural norms. To continue to form her own ideas and thoughts and continue to question things.
