What a busy weekend we've had. We've had four dogs surrendered and another on her way down from Gympie RSPCA this week. This is just one of the four boys who've joined the CRQ family this weekend. His name is Harry and he's 7 months old. He's definitely not a purebred chihuahua, he has a lovely long body and legs so we think he has some foxie in him. Poor Harry is very nervous. He has not had adequate training or socialisation and the poor fella didn't even get his vaccinations done. In fact, he hasn't visited a vet since he was bought from an online ad.
It's onwards and upwards now though. Our incredible transport volunteer Peta drove Harry (and Milo) down to Brisbane on Friday afternoon. He cowered under the car seat in fear and barked nervously. Treats and patience won him over and he was soon giving Birgit kisses and cuddles.
Harry is the perfect example of how a puppy shouldn't be brought up. Bought online, never taken to a vet, no consistent training... but now life has changed. This week he'll be desexed, vaccinated and have a full health assessment. Our amazing foster carers will look after him and show him a better life. We know that Harry and our other dogs new into care (Milo, Patches and Mickey) have great lives ahead.
