⠀⠀⠀ ⠀ Andrew Waugh was so gracious to offer Charles Trevor and myself a tour today of Dalston Lane. ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀ This project will be the world's largest CLT structure by volume as well as by height in the UK. ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀ So grateful for Andrew's willingness to share about how his architecture firm is reducing the carbon footprint of the built environment, lessons they’ve learned about streamlining CLT construction, and in celebrating the near completion of this significant project! ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀ #dalstonlane#waughthistleton#crosslaminatedtimber#london#hackney
Repost @aadesignandmake. What a faultless pitch! Talking about the amalgam of possibilities, spans, and geometries possible with cross-laminated timber in February this year. Today images released of the 207m tall twisted skeleton of the ZHA Leeza Soho tower in Beijing, using a claimed 3000 tonnes of steel. I hope Alex @drmmarchitects is right.
Concrete and steel are no less 'natural' in my view, made by the great apes (us), but I prefer timber.
