So many variables exist when it comes to movement improvement programming. These variables should all be considered when selecting appropriate programming and treatment for the individual. 3 major categories exist with these variables:

1️⃣MOVEMENT LIMITATIONS - evaluation of movement and determining areas that can become more resilient. Don't focus on cookie cutter solutions, ex) "core stability" and "hip mobility" - Instead build strong, controlled movement patterns that will allow for growth & robustness. 💪🏼

2️⃣ANATOMICAL LIMITATIONS - we are human, one of the truths about being human is that we are all built differently. Consider anatomical limitations and accept they are different from individual to individual. Ex) maybe my toes don't want to point forward at the same angle as yours when I squat because my hips don't like that angle.... 🤷🏻‍♂️

3️⃣PATIENT FOCUSED GOALS AND EXPECTATIONS - Listen to the individual and support their goals. Provide guidance and feedback but never forget the power of simply listening. 🙂

It has nothing to do with me, the lift I’m performing or the way that it makes me feel! But that gentleman in the background that I’ve never met before. In the midst of me going for one of my heaviest lifts is yelling in the background and pushing me on. 🔥I'VE ALWAYS HAD TIGHT HAMMIES🔥

During assessment we noticed this runner had difficulty hinging at his hips and complained of chronically tight hamstrings, low back pain and knee pain. Stretching, foam rolling, manual fascial release work was yielding temporary results but would always "tighten" back up. ⏰Passively stretching muscles will not allow the body to effectively communicate back to the brain that this lengthened position is safe to load or move in. ☎️Without the brain/nervous system input, our muscles are simply pieces of meat 🍖. Finding length of tissue under tension is an affective way to build "neuromuscular confidence" in a previously vulnerable position. 📏Once your body feels confident or "safe" in a particular position, the neuromuscular tension will decrease and you are able to build sustainable gains in range of motion. 💥💥💥After 10 minutes of hip hinge cueing and some @foundationtraining practice, this patient was able to not only touch the floor for the first time in over 10years, but was able to gain over 6" in his forward fold. Movement is medicine! 💊🏃🏻💊🏃🏻💊🏃🏻💊🏃🏻💊🏃🏻💊🏃🏻💊🏃🏻💊🏃🏻💊🏃🏻

🏃🏻This guy has never had an episode of back pain in his life prior to last week. 🔥Today he presented with drop foot, numbness down leg and severe lower back and right hip pain after lifting his toddler from the ground. With lateral side glides & some position cueing, this patient was able to get himself completely out of pain, & abolished his numbness and weakness‼️Zero practitioner intervention, zero hands on treatment. This patient left feeling empowered and has more sense of control over his symptoms. Never under estimate the power of your own body! ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖
✖️If you are in a situation where you feel reliant on your means of intervention (medication, injections, massage, physical therapy, chiropractic care, foam rolling), maybe there is another answer for you. Dynamic Cupping to decompress tissue around the elbow joint. Patient came in with pain and numbness in parts of their forearm and some fingers. This was part of our treatment to help with some peripheral nerve entrapment.
