✨ IS STRENGTH TRAINING RIGHT FOR ME? ✨
.
It seems like everyone is jumping on the bodybuilder bandwagon these days.
.
But you- you're a little hesitant to join the crowd...
.
I mean, you have no interest in competing in a powerlifting meet anytime soon. And in all honesty, the thought of stepping into a crowded weight room to pick up your first dumbbell- well, that just terrifies you a little bit.
.
You want to slim down but you question whether lifting weights will have the opposite effect- increasing your muscle size + causing you to pack on the pounds?
.
So what gives? Is strength training really necessary for getting into shape or is it just an over-hyped trend that will soon be replaced with the next latest +greatest fad?
.
The truth?
.
When done correctly, strength training provides some pretty incredible health benefits👇
.
👉 For starters- daily life just gets easier. We tend to take for granted the day-to-day parts of life that require strength, but nearly everything we do- from walking up the stairs to lifting groceries out of the car to picking up little ones (both human babies + fur babies) from off the floor- is a weight-bearing activity. When we work to build muscle, we find that daily chores require less effort.
.
👉 We put a stop to the aging process. Living a sedentary lifestyle (you know, all those hours you spend sitting in the office) means that we gradually becoming weaker over time. Building muscle can fight back against this process.
.
👉 Not to mention, strength training can help turn your body into a fat-burning machine. Yep, it's true- a regular strength training program increases your LEAN body mass, allowing you to burn calories more efficiently (i.e. faster metabolism) which can result in healthy weight loss.
.
But before you head off to the gym just yet- know the a great strength training program doesn't need to be complicated in order to be effective.
.
If you're just starting out, give these 4 body weight exercises a try 3-4 times each week:
.
1️⃣ Push-ups | 3 sets of 10 reps
2️⃣ Air squat | 3 sets of 25 reps
3️⃣ Walking Lunges | 3 sets of 20 reps (10 each side)
4️⃣ Plank | 3 sets of 1 min. hold
.

Anyone who's spent time at the gym has inevitably been asked, “how much ya bench?”. If you’re stuck in a rut with your bench, then it’s time to start addressing that sticking point a couple of inches off your chest. Using the exercise above is a great way to develop strength at the point where everyone struggles. Throw this in on bench days by performing a set for 5-6 seconds. Strip weight off to around 80% of your 1 rep max and wait 2-3 minutes. Now press that bar as fast you can through that sticking point to make a weakness a new strength.  #bestrongbemobile
