A debrief of my #PodCon.
Friday: picked up my badge.
Saturday: Attended opening show. Went to panel about podcasting and communities (and really about community in general). Went to live recording of #LastNameBasis with special guest Dylan Marron. Went to Lifting the Night Vale Veil. (Haven't listened to the pod because it feels like such a mountain to tackle, but it's been sitting in my queue for over a year so I guess I'm going to have to get to it now.) Live recording of #Criminal , which was a lot of fun. Another one that's been sitting in my queue (more manageable than Night Vale though.) Laughed my stupid face off at #MBMBaM live.
Sunday: Cozied up in the mainstage room for the day. First up, #Sawbones, where Justin and Sydnee talked about coffee but more importantly the mechanics of a coffee enema. Then The #TheAdventureZone Zone with the McElroys. Stuck around for Alice Isn't Dead, which was super interesting. A live #DearHankAndJohn (or as John likes to call it, #DearJohnAndHank) which was one of the funniest live shows I've ever experienced. And finally, the closing show.
It was an eventful and exhausting weekend. I learned about several new podcasts, got to show some love for my faves and be in the same space with people who unapologetically love things. As John said, long live the enthusiasts. Though I didn't tackle my social anxiety to make new friends as a solo attendee - someday, maybe - I DID finish two books so. (Reading, not writing, I should say.) A huge thanks to the founders, creators, guests, volunteers, staff, fellow attendees for doing the things.
