So excited to announce my next two cosplays! Ophelia from #brutallegend and Elvira Mistress of the Dark! I'll hopefully be debuting both of them for Orlando's Spooky Empire this October. This will be first time attending SE, so if any of you have been before, what did you think of it? TL;DR breakdown of each of the lady's pros and cons below!
ADVANTAGES: Ophelia is such a quintessential 'cool chick' type, strong and collected. By and large, all comfy clothes. And SNEAKERS! 💗 And it's gonna be twice as fun with @darthnutt as my #eddieriggs . We are gonna be sickeningly cute in love rockers!
CHALLENGES - What with brutal legend's very specific style, that means a lot of custom accessories. And with it being a couple cosplay, my work load is doubled. This will be my first foray into leatherwork (I've bought the gauntlet but will be making the belt) and my very first time making weapons (two short swords, an axe and a guitar?! What am I getting myself into?!! 😱) So if anyone has any advice on using EVA foam, I'm all ears... Elvira:
ADVANTAGES - I'm super pumped to be Elvira as I just love her personality. She's a perfect mix of ditzy, sexy, confident and lovable with an inexplicable bit of girl next door that I just adore. The dress itself should be relatively easy as it will mostly be a modified and upgraded version of the Halloween dress that's pretty easy to find. What can I say? I'm not a 'from scratch' cosplayer. I'm more of a Bionic Man 'rebuild them, make them better faster stronger' cosplayer.😅 CHALLENGES - This will be the sexiest cosplay I've ever done by far! I've never really had cleavage before but that's why the Lord created push up bras. And duct tape. And contouring make-up. Lol speaking of, the make-up in general will be a fun new transformation for me to try. And as of right now, the jury is still out on whether or not I will be wearing a wig. My mother is gonna give a go at teasing my own hair up before adding styling a wig to my to do list.
All things considered I should have a fun spooky summer of crafting ahead of me! If anyone had any advice or words of encouragement, sound off! Wish me luck!!
