Why is it so important to accept?
A situation, others decisions, your own position in life.
When you are not accepting something, there are several delusions you fall into. One of them is hope for a miracle. I can sign up for this expensive class and fix my photography style, I can buy a detox tea and compensate for years of eating junk food, etc.
If you are lucky, soon you realise, that quick solutions don't work for something major.
Once you accept what you have, you can breath. You are expending your borders, you start seeing opportunities. Now it's your decision what to do with the situation.
I experienced this when I was spending tons of time trying to get into high end commercial fashion magazines, getting so frustrated with each failure. I didn't bother to stop and really think: is it my true desire or a chase for conventional fashion photography goals? Is my style appropriate for such magazines? It was super hard to accept that the answer for both questions was NO.
Once I finally managed to deeply accept that, I looked around and inside, and thought "alright, what do I really care about?" That's how I started to lean into creating conceptual videos, developing my style as a director. And guess what? Now when I rebranded myself, I get 200% more responses from editors, agents, productions than before.
Sometimes you just need to offer yourself a helping hand and take the courage to look inside.
