Yesterday was the opening of the @russian_film_week with a wonderful film Attraction by @fbondarchuk.
It’s wonderful how sci-fi works can raise truly deep questions, like accepting the Other. Other skin tone, other gender, other nationality - doesn’t matter.
You know what came to my mind in relation to creative freelancers? How often do we take on a job without really accepting and loving our clients and their businesses? Did you have a situation when you thought “OMG, I hate this collection, but will still do a look book for this designer” or “I hate this song, but will still pitch to direct the music video”?
I don’t believe in truly productive professional relationship without mutual respect and appreciation of each other.
When you are knocking at the doors of people you don’t truly respect, you are waisting everyone’s time. But if you think a job can really help your career, and you are not a big fan of the client’s business, - try to find something positive that you can honestly and truly believe in. Maybe you are just not in their target audience, but those who are, cannot live without this brand/musician/business? This deserves your respect.
You will be surprised, how this approach can transform your meetings, prices, relationships with your clients. When your eyes are shining with genuine interest, your brain bursts with ideas and you are honestly ready to SERVE and bring VALUE to your client - then you don’t need any “magic techniques” on how to close the deal.
Have a productive week everyone! 🖤
