Saipem has lifted 3 of the 5 turbines onto floating foundations for the 30MW Hywind Scotland offshore wind farm. The turbine height from sea is a staggering 175 meters and the floating substructure has a draft of 78 meters! The lifting works are done by the crane vessel Saipem 7000 at the port of Stord on the west coast of Norway. The fjords provide shelter for environmental influences while having a large water depth. The lift is special in the sense that the entire turbine INCLUDING rotor blades is lifted in one lift. After lifting, the turbines will be towed to the coast of Scotland. #hywind#floatingwindturbines#offshorewindfarm#saipem#saipem7000#cranevessel#heavylifting#offshorescotland#6mwturbines#masdar
No drone picture. Just couldn't resist taking a smartphone photo when I passed this behemoth of a #cranevessel. It's the #Hermod owned by the company #Heerema. You'll find some aerial photos and videos of this one amongst my work too.
