Craig Morgan did his best to celebrate the life of his late son, Jerry, on Monday, instead of grieving on the anniversary of his death. Jerry Greer died in a boating accident on July 10, 2016.
The country singer (real name Craig Morgan Greer) shared an old photo of his family, smiling at Jerry’s high school graduation, which was accompanied by a memorial message about his son: “My daughter said it best July 10th .. It's someone's birthday, someone's anniversary, someone's celebration for a new job, someone found out they were having a baby, but for me and my family, it's the day we lost Jerry Michael. It's hard to put into words how sad I am, yet at the same time, I want to celebrate and praise my Heavenly Father for His perfect plan for our lives.” Morgan planned to spend the day in the water since his son “lost his life on the lake.” Nearly 24 hours passed between the time Jerry Greer went underwater while tubing on Kentucky Lake and when he was found. His body was located on July 11, with an autopsy later confirming he had drowned. The 19-year-old was wearing a life jacket, and at the time officials could not explain why it did not bring him afloat after the initial accident. Jerry was one of Morgan's four kids with wife Karen.
