He’s been a good player for Arsenal for years after his initial rough patch. This being said, it’s common knowledge that he’s been dealing with chronic achilles problems and he’s needed daily injections to even keep playing.
Coming into this season he was still in relatively good form (apart from the red card against Everton on the last game of last season) but since day 1 he’s struggled and it appears as either his age, or achilles is catching up with him.
He had a few good games, but like most of our defence, was inconsistent and frankly, just not good enough.
I’d keep him though. He’ll be out for a while and will only be available halfway through the season but I think you could get a lot out of him if used properly. It’s clear he can’t play multiple games a week but he’s more than capable of being a good squad player.
