W5/R19: I’m officially into week 5 of @marinecorpsmarathon training! Today’s workout was 2 up, 5 at tempo pace, and 2 down. I hit my paces in my tempo workout today like a boss. I wanted to keep them in the 7:45 range, and ended up with about a 7:32 average pace for the temp portion of my workout. The last mile was HARD, but I got it done. .

I seemed to sort of run out of energy at the end, and I’m wondering if maybe I should try to eat something before these longer tempo runs. 🤷‍♀️ I do all runs except my long runs fasting, but my body definitely isn’t used to these longer workouts, so it’s worth a shot.

So, husby and I begin our new program this Monday. I have sneak peak workouts I can complete to see what we're in for 😉

Well, I did two of them back to back. Each one is only 20 minutes (its supposed to be one a day), but boy did I need my post work out dessert after, and my momma magic before... Oi Vey... And then I ran today.. So I've been productive 💪👍🏃 .

So today was a 6 miler... it did not go like I’d hoped. I hit a wall during mile 5 & 6. I was struggling mentally, getting lighted headed & woozy. It just wasn’t great. Had I gotten up this morning like planned to run would it have gone better? Maybe, maybe not 🤷‍♀️. Husband called and asked if I needed him to come get me, I was half way thru mile 5, it took everything I had to not say yes. I however said no and finished. Had a good run out this morning, before it got too hot. Was planning on about 5 miles around a new(ish) route, but might of got a little bit lost...... When I say lost, I knew roughly where I was, but somehow missed one turning and ended up in the sticks.

Anyway - nice little 10k in the end, which I'm reasonably happy with.

W4/R18: Today I ran my longest run since before hurting my foot! The last time I ran 15 miles I was training for Chicago in 2015. I’m so happy to be finally getting to the real long runs in the training plan. Nothing makes me happier than 15 miles at 5am. 😍 My run today was great! 5 miles solo and the last 10 with friends made the miles fly by. Even the weather cooperated today and the humidity let up a little bit. 🙌

As of today I’ve finished 4 weeks of my training plan. It’s actually not been too bad, but we’ll see how I do over the next 4 weeks as the intensity and mileage really kick in. I ran 43 miles this week and 4 weeks from now I will run 55 miles. I’m officially entering uncharted territory, as my mileage when I trained for my last marathon was much lower. I’m just 🙏 that this body is up to the challenge!

Lower humidity than KC

I did a nice 7 miles. Time to go wake up Kivrin to see how much she has grown in the last 6 weeks.
