Um estudo realizado por pesquisadores britânicos sugere que assistir a #shows de música #aovivo reduz os níveis de #estresse das pessoas. Basicamente é a ciência explicando aquela sensação de estar com alma lavada após assistir uma ótima performance - e pular, #dançar e #cantar bem alto. Estudos prévios já mostraram que ouvir #música pode ajudar tanto para o relaxamento quanto para a concentração. Mas essa nova pesquisa publicada no periódico Public Health foca especialmente nas apresentações ao vivo e os efeitos que os eventos podem ter nas pessoas. Os cientistas recrutaram 117 voluntários, entre eles pessoas que tinha bastante ou nenhum costume de ir a #shows, para #assistir à apresentação do compositor Eric Whitacre. Os participantes fizeram testes de seus níveis de estresse com amostras de suas salivas antes, durante e após os shows. Houve, no geral, uma diminuição nos hormônios #cortisol e #cortisona dos participantes. Esses hormônios são produzidos quando o corpo está sob #pressão física ou mental e podem causar sérios riscos à #saúde das pessoas quando são produzidos por longos períodos. Os pesquisadores apontaram que não houve diferença nos resultados de quem tinha costume em ir a #shows e de quem não tinha: todos aproveitaram o show da mesma forma e apresentaram uma diminuição na produção dos #hormônios mencionados acima. "Esse estudo dá margem para questionarmos como a relação com a música e com as artes podem influenciar estados #biológicos e #psicológicos e, consequentemente, o potencial que eventos culturais podem ter para o bem-estar das pessoas", explicam os cientistas. De-stress ritual : What makes you feel good? For me it's spending quality time with my dog, family, partner, hunting down the cutest matcha🍵 desserts in town, brewing my coffee☕️ every morning, enjoying the calm before the morning wakes up, laying underneath the palm trees🌴, turning off my laptop and phone to go through my books📚before bed, and of course doing my #skincareroutine every night. Zoning out from the noise, patting in my skincare products, touching my skin and seeing myself in the mirror and giving a lil word of #affirmation to myself💆🏻💓 .
How to stress less? : I don't think anyone has mastered this subject (or have you?) but for me things get a tiny bit easier when I ask myself "Is the situation under my control? Can I do something about it to change or remove?" If I can't change the circumstances, I'm practicing how to let things go and enjoy the flow instead. I define that event is not worth scavenging my skin and health and that makes it easier to stress less. But if the stress is coming from something I CAN change, I try to use that stress as a motivating factor to work harder🙌🏼

I just completed my 2nd Toastmasters International Speech, which educated people on The @iceman_hof METHOD.
I shared the sconce behind it and my own personal experience/growth. It was extremely challenging but in the end I got great feedback on my speech.
The evaluators said I had great energy, educated well, motivated (because everyone is going to try and start taking cold showers now), AND I even made the audience laugh 3 times!
Mission Accomplished. On to speech 3.

E hj faz exatamente 1 ano que corri essa emocionante prova. Há um tempo atrás comecei a querer testar meus limites. Iniciei com provas de 6k, depois 10k, 12k, 16k até chegar a meia maratonas internacionais, das quais me orgulho em ter largado entre os primeiros 200 em uma delas.
Nessa foto, em específico, fui correndo de Paris a Versailles, em um dia de muita chuva, terrenos adversos, mata, 2 morros de 2km cada e 7% de inclinação. Depois, para me preparar para as corridas de 21k, percebia que meu corpo apresentava grande desgaste físico. Minha taxa metabólica basal (TMB) é de 2227Kcal e meu gasto relacionado ao estilo de vida é de 1536,2kcal calculados pelo exame de #calorimetriaindireta. Isso dava quase 4000kcal de gasto energético total por dia. Com a rotina de trabalho intensa e um perfill genético de característica #ectomorfo, mesmo com uma alimentação balanceada e suplementação adequada, muitas vezes era difícil atingir as 4 mil kcal diárias e a perda de peso era inerente. As vezes às custas de massa muscular, mesmo mantendo os treinos de #musculação. A saída foi abandonar as provas de #meiamaratona e me contentar com distâncias menores, respeitando meu biotipo. Mas ainda dou umas escapadas.
O exemplo hoje foi meu, para ilustrar alguns casos que pego no consultório de pessoas que correm grandes distâncias, têm até algum preparo, mas muitas ainda assim ganham peso. Quase sempre já com déficit de massa magra na #bioimpedância por desgaste muscular do #overtraining ou por não seguirem orientação nem #suplementação. Diminuem a TMB, elevam #cortisol e engordam. Outras emagrecem demais de uma forma que não é saudável. Fica a dica!

Hi. Hello. I'm alive 🙋🏼
The 'getting back to my routine' plan hasn't quite gone to plan & I've not really had a routine or any sort of structure to my workouts...which I've learnt doesn't work for me. My workouts have been short & the weights have been lighter because I've been under the weather 👎🏻 And I've had to skip days because I'm all about listening to your body 👌🏼 Although that being said, it's pissed me off not being in the gym as much as usual 😑

So here I am. Much softer than I was a month ago and definitely not as fit.
And thanks to being stressed (cortisol levels increased), I've definitely gained a bit too much fat for my liking. (And I've had more treats than I'm used to because...YOLO 😜)

Anyway, today marks day 1 (again) of getting back to my routine. Focusing on my overall fitness & health ✌🏼

Ran out of sleep so this is my Sunday morning read.. If any book will inspire you to revamp your diet & lifestyle it will be this one.
Dr David was himself a cancer sufferer & sadly succumbed to it in 2011. He was a celebrated neuroscientist and after his brain cancer diagnosis in his early 30's he made it his life's mission to learn as much as he could about how we can prevent cancer & to share that with the world. He spent almost 20 years researching & sharing his advice on how to prevent cancer.. And it is powerful stuff.
If you haven't time to read this book then watch the documentary about his incredible work on Netflix called 'The C Word'. David basically tells you that your lifestyle is the biggest predictor of whether or not you will get cancer. And this is ENTIRELY something you can control. Most cancers are not genetic.. This rang more true to me than anything I've been reading/researching lately. How can you heal, rebuild and optimise if you don't first remove your pathogen? 🤷‍♀️ personally mine is stress which kicks off my cortisol levels 📈 This, for me can last for a few days (used to be months in the past) if I'm not listening to my body. My symptoms are sever lethargy, food cravings, persistent hunger and I put on weight directly and quickly, around my waist. It essentially looks 'thick'. That's when I know I've working, trying, training, pushing (overachiever 👍) too much and I'm out of balance. Things that bring me back are to stop everything, have a few rest days from training and seek out something that will make me laugh 😂. Once I do this my cravings stop, I can feel satisfied without searching for food and almost overnight my waistline comes back. Pathogens, as I've called it here could be food allergies, poor sleep or sleep enviro, too much training or stress, mold exposure, poor food choices, personal stress ie work/relationships etc. you get the picture! Key is to knowing what yours are and begin to reduce and then remove. It can take time and a lot of patience! But it's one step at a time to becoming more #bulletproof 🙏😊
