3wks ago, I posted on IG HBD to #CorrineBrown and thanked her for her services to the community. Today, this lady leaves this comment on the pic! Former Congresswoman Brown has stood before the Judge and the law has spoken. I'm not sure why this person (Michele Womack) felt it necessary to throw racist slurs at her on my page! 🤷🏾‍♂️ I'm posting this, because people need to see where some folks stand. I hope someone can identify her and let her job see this post. So please contact all of the local strip clubs and Denny's to see if this is one of their employees. 🤓 🔥Show this to her job🔥#WakeUpAndSmellTheRacism #racist #MrsBuggles #racism #MicheleWomack @shaunking #shaunking

Former Rep. #CorrineBrown, D-Fla., was sentenced to five years in federal prison Monday after she was convicted of 18 counts of charges related to #fraud and #corruption.

A judge found Brown guilty of 18 of 22 counts in May for taking hundreds of thousands of dollars from a sham charity, One Door for Education, and using the money for parties, trips, and shopping.
U.S. District Judge Timothy Corrigan also sentenced Ronnie Simmons, Brown’s chief of staff, and Carla Wiley, the charity’s president, to 48 months and 21 months in prison, respectively. “This was a crime born out of entitlement and greed committed to ensure a lifestyle that was beyond their means,” Corrigan said in a statement before announcing the sentences, according to the Florida Times-Union. 👉🏼"Just think of the good that could have been done with that money if it would have been used for its intended purpose.” Brown must report to prison no sooner than Jan. 8.

😱 #StayInTheKnow 📰 • #CorrineBrown, a 71 year old Democrat, was one of the first three African-Americans to be elected to Congress from Florida since Reconstruction.

A federal jury in May convicted her of 18 of the 22 charges against her, which included fraud, lying on her tax returns and on her congressional financial disclosures.

Prosecutors outlined a pattern of fraud by Brown and her top aide that included using hundreds of thousands of dollars from the One Door for #EducationFoundation for lavish parties, trips and shopping excursions.

Brown's former chief of staff, Elias "Ronnie" Simmons, and One Door's executive director #CarlaWiley accepted plea deals and testified against Brown. They are also scheduled to be sentenced Monday.

Federal prosecutors said the three used One Door to bring in more than $800,000 between 2012 and 2016, including a high-profile golf tournament at TPC Sawgrass.

The Virginia-based One Door only gave out one scholarship for $1,200 to an unidentified person in Florida, according to court documents.

#EliasSimmons told jurors that his boss ordered him to take cash and checks from #OneDoor's account on dozens of occasions and deposit the money into Brown's personal account.

Brown testified in her own defense, saying she was left in the dark about the details of One Door's money, and blamed the theft on Simmons.

Her attorneys argued for leniency at a hearing last month, saying Brown's community work should mitigate her crimes. #Congress #BlackCongress #BlackNews #InTheKnowRadio 📍🗣🎙
