* Don’t rotate anything.
* High knees

I'm sure someone reading is thinking, "Well I must be 10-50+ years my ACTUAL human age". It is true, a child's anatomical structure is generally more flexible than adults, but did you know that's mainly due to bad habits overtime?

If practiced during #childhood and pre-teen years, #Pilates & #Yoga can help in bringing #awareness to the body of the individual, which then helps in #PREVENTING ailments and #complications seen in #teens, #adults, and the #geriatric years. Just because you didn't start young doesn't mean that it is too late! There are women and men over 75+ that STILL practice Pilates and Yoga, beginners and advanced alike, for all kinds of reasons!

Fridays I get to play in the studio under the instruction of @valzy101 Honestly, I don’t know how she dreams up these amazing exercises that encapsulate Pilates so well. Every time I’m left breathing a sigh of relief at the end 😂😂🤣

Today, she had me do Side Pike on the Chair, with a twist! Literally! My hands are on the rotating disc and as I hold at the top of the Pike, I have to rotate with my hands while maintaining shoulder stability. So much control and mindfulness goes into such a small yet impactful movement. My obliques were on 🔥🔥🔥🔥

#PlayingwithScissors ✂️Day 4 of 4: Scissors & bicycle in air. —————————
An effective intermediate/advanced Pilates move focusing on core control and hip mobility. My favorite part of this is bicycling backwards and having to work for the hip flexor/ quad stretch via the toe-dip down toward the mat followed by the extension of the knee. Creating an oppositional leg pull is easily visualized with this move and if you slow it down enough you get a great counterbalance challenge. ✂️🌟✂️ Hope enjoyed the mini series this week!

This is a great core exercise that also calms lower back muscles down. I'm driving my heels down into the bench and tilting my pelvis up to feel hamstrings. Also taking forceful exhale to drive ribs down and activate the obliques. Combo to strengthen core + shoulders 💪🏽

If you really struggle with planks, crunches, push-ups....even burpees (which I despise and don’t do but another post on that...)you could just need to focus on improving core and shoulder strength. This combo helps with that! Even though I’m using light weights here, you could even just use bodyweight. Don’t be fooled though...it might look easy but if you’re doing it correctly, it will be a challenge; as always shoulders relaxed and abs engaged. Try:
1️⃣Roll-up with overhead tricep extension and shoulder press x15 reps, rest and aim for x2 sets, repeat on other side
.
2️⃣Isometric Crunch with Punches x30 non-stop reps (if possible), rest and aim for x2 sets
.
Note make sure your overhead tricep extension is strong form with elbow to the ceiling, mine is slightly off because I have a long-term injury and my shoulders are slightly misaligned...making this a tough one for me!
