"How do I get abs?"
"I do 10000 crunches a day and see no progress, what do I do?"
"Why do I need to train core?"
All very great questions, and some there are vague answers. First off, you get abs from genetics, as well as being at a certain body fat percentage for your body where they can be visibly seen. Now, if you aren't dialed into your nutrition you can do all the crunches you want but the abbies are probably going to stay in hibernation. Regardless if you can "see your abs" or not, you need to make sure you are still training your core. They are just like any muscle group, you must strengthen them, and they also aid in the ability to better perform other ADLs.
Here below are some of my favorite core exercises to add in during my workouts or create a circuit with post workout.
🔥 hanging knee tuck each way + leg lift
🔥 cable cross body crunch (small weight attached)
🔥 weighted bench sit ups (DB or med ball)
🔥 DB J pull over + leg lower
🔥 hanging runners - feel free to add a band around your feet for intensity on the pull up!
No need to ever get super fancy with core training. Make sure you are sticking with the basics and not hurting yourself trying to do some cool crazy exercise for a video. 😂
Just keep it simple, and keep it fun.

Here are a few of my favorite ab exercises that never fail me. Swipe right for a demo of each that I’ve listed below.

1️⃣ Med Ball V-Ups - 12-15 reps
2️⃣ Med Ball Russian Twists - 12-15 reps (can use a weighted plate or dumbbell)
3️⃣ Plank Shoulder Taps - 30 reps
4️⃣ Plank “Up Downs” - 20 reps
5️⃣ Plank - 30-90 seconds

I train abs 2-3x per week and usually throw them in a circuit like this at the end of a workout (aka I don’t dedicate an entire day to only abs). Ab circuits like this are great for strengthening your core and improving muscle definition. However, decreasing body fat through proper nutrition is the most important component of being able to actually see your abs. You can do all of the ab exercises you want, but without proper diet/nutrition, your abs are not coming out to play. Complete this circuit 3-5x, eat well, keep moving, stay active and you’re good to go 👍🏼

This new program has been the best thing that's ever happened to my body!! I absolutely LOVE it 😍👌 For the ladies who don't know, all my workouts are 30-40 minutes and include a simple meal plan with delicious recipes. You can choose to do them anywhere, including at home, a hotel or your in-laws over the holidays!😜 Or you can even take the app to the gym with you and use the equipment as well as add in extra challenges!! idk what this goofy stance is but it was before 5 am so cut me some slack. did a long, slow warm up then inclined walk into a liss jog. did a session then hit my core circuit when my 6 am no showed me. 😔 i have a pretty busy schedule so #fingerscrossed everyone shows up !

30 seconds sprint (high resistance, all out), 30 seconds rest (lower resistance, slow pedal)

Really sad I couldn’t make it to @amyjofitness class. But I made sure I did not get lazy. I probably would have knocked out this core circuit in 30 mins BUT playing referee to my monkeys and doing laundry at the same time somewhat slowed my pace. 🙋🏻 Strength, stability, & mobility ... all encompass a kettlebell windmill 🙌🏼. Love these!
👌🏼 You’re activating your glutes/hamstrings to control your way down & to stand back up to starting position, increasing strength & stability in your shoulder by “packing” it into proper position, & your core is fired up to control your movement of hip hinging with a spine rotation.
💁🏻 They take some time to build up to so make sure to get help, start with a lighter weight or no weight at all, & study the step by step form before performing.
