"BLEU" STREAK: Corbin Bleu is coming back to Broadway. And that's a damn good thing. This go round, the former "High School Musical" star has been cast to star in Roundabout Theatre Company's forthcoming revival of the Tony Award winning musical classic "Kiss Me, Kate." Bleu will star as as Lucentio/Bill Calhoun in the Scott Ellis-directed production, led by Tony Award winner Kelli O'Hara and Tony Award nominee Will Chase.
A dash of Shakespeare’s "Taming of the Shrew," and the songwriting genius of Cole Porter (“Too Darn Hot,” “So In Love” and “Always True To You In My Fashion"), "Kiss Me, Kate" was the winner of the first-ever Tony Award for Best Musical -- back in 1949.
Terence Archie, Mel Johnson Jr., Stephanie Styles, Adrienne Walker, Lance Coadie Williams and John Pankow wil round out the cast. A Brooklyn native, Bleu made his Broadway debut in Lin-Manuel Miranda's Tony Award winning "In The Heights" in 2010. He also starred in the 2012 revival of "Godspell" and "Holiday Inn: The New Irving Berlin Musical" (in 2016). According to Matt Polk, "Kiss Me, Kate" will begin preview performances on February 14, 2019 and is scheduled to play a limited engagement through June 2, 2019 at Studio 54 on Broadway.
