I'm a lil embarrassed to admit that I've never been to visit the guys @SkeletonKeyBrew nor have I seen my dudes from the @roaminghog in quite some time. Tonight, they were both on point. Didn't get a shot of the food, unfortunately, but had a ton of deliciousness on draft, including #Knobhead - an awesome execution of an English pale. With a great mix of fruity, floral and earthy, this EPA starts off with aromas of a light strawberry-blueberry bleu cheese balanced by a sweet sunflower and earthy malt. On the palate, it's crisp as it can be and sits very light, perfectly masking the bitterness of the hops while accentuating those grassy, floral and earthy characteristics of both the malt and yeast. The semisweet, robust, but lightly funky and malted finish might be the best part. If you don't come back for anything, at least come back for that. Prost!!

Today's lunchie is homemade chicken rice! It's a one pot meal where I poached a chicken thigh and using the chicken stock to make a cabbage soup. This is the first time I poached chicken and the result is stunning! The meat is so tender that the chicken meat just fell off from the bones! So the trick is to steep the chicken after boiling it and an ice water bath after that! 😄😄 I'm glad I poached two chicken thighs instead of one 😁😁 Have a great lunch everyone! Bon appetit!

Stopped in for a lil visit with the team @PollyannaBrewCo and what comes next? Their new wet-hopped XPA - a delicious extra pale ale seasoned with a fresh batch of Chinook hops from the guys at Hop Head Farms (@hopheadsmi). That signature fresh grapefruit aroma and fragrant pine from the Chinook hit you right away followed by just a touch of spice on the nose. It's really crisp and light for a wet-hopped beer with a nice bite up front on the palate, huge notes of grapefruit, a bitter touch of rind and lots of pine on the back end. The finish is very clean, semi-dry and resinous with lightly toasted, crackery malt notes. We've got about a week left of some rough heat yet to come and I'd definitely recommend closing out these dog days of summer with some of this deliciousness if you can. Prost!!

Just two days into our after school cooking program, these young chefs are truly turning into pros! How does a squash risotto with parsley on top sound? We even added on some roasted butternut squash seeds for the perfect finish! Thank you @imperfectproduce for such delicious, local produce, and @lundbergfarms for the arborio rice that we were able to make into tasty risotto!
