this semester has been c r a z y. I have taken 3 of my hardest courses, worked my part time job, and built my fitness biz (ahhh I love saying that 😍). some days I amaze myself at how I balance it all..... and some days I look for my phone while it's in my hand. #life

today I read statistics that rocked my world. 86% of women leave social media + go about their day emptier than before. 1 in 10 millennial women "usually" feel lonely. 6 out of 10 women say they want to change something about their lives after looking at social media.

something is wrong with this picture. social media can easily cause insecurity, jealousy, + loneliness. according to these statistics that is what it does.

I want to CHANGE the 86%. I know I want my page to be a place others find connection, motivation, + joy. don't you want the same? would you want your sister, mom, cousin, best friend looking at your page and leaving feeling insecure + not enough?! exactly.

yesterday I was talking to a friend who's going through a break up. hearing her talk from a broken place made me hurt. I think we can all relate to a time that we have felt alone, unwanted, + not enough. rejection is painful + our hearts are fragile in another's hands.

I've been reading a book + it's been casting SO much light on the parts of my heart I've tried to keep in the dark.
⠀⠀
I've been "that" girl. the one who wants the boy + the relationship SO bad. even when I KNOW it doesn't hold what I'm truly looking + longing for. you see "everyone else" in a relationship + the loneliness bug bites.
⠀⠀
so what do we do? we fight for people to stay. we try to prove our worth. we try to protect ourselves behind pride or sassiness (for me at least 😉) when in reality we're just scared to be vulnerable. we choose attention over intention + small talk over significance.
⠀⠀
then when it doesn't work out we assign traits to others based on our perceptions. and we tell ourselves that maybe we just weren't enough. I lived that cycle over + over.
⠀⠀
but things are different in this place. I've learned that alone does NOT mean lonely. my worth no longer comes from someone's acceptance of me. my worth comes from MY acceptance of me. + from the love of a God who's waited on me while I've looked everywhere BUT Him for a sense of love, worth, + acceptance.
⠀⠀
now I want to love FROM a full place. not from a place of empty desperation. I want intention, meaning, + less convenience.
⠀⠀
➖I don't have to chase a person or a feeling.
➖I don't have to be anxious about measuring up.
➖I don't have to worry about others walking away.
⠀⠀
what you focus on will make or break your identity. rip out the beliefs of rejection + inadequacy. replace them with the truths that YOU are enough + you are loved right where you are. why chase after what you can already give yourself?

if you're hurting in this season: you will be okay. you are accepted. you are loved. you are enough. ❤️

I used to let trips be an EXCUSE to not workout. now with my "Netflix of workouts" library I can workout ANYWHERE!

my sister hopped in on my basement workout sesh- Christmas jammies + all. so happy that she sees me taking control of my health! it's important to me to walk the talk + set the example for the people I love.

today I got some news about where I'm ranking for November and I am both super excited + surprised. once I STOPPED doubting myself + just went after my big, scary, intimidating goals I have started to show myself that not only can I do the hard stuff, but I can be pretty damn good at it too. just by being me, showing up, + putting in the hustle I'm proving my OWN SELF wrong. 🙅🏽

I finally get it. my success vs my failure is entirely up to me. + you guessed it, yours is up to you. the self doubt has got to go y'all. sometimes you just have to tell yourself to shut up 🤷🏽‍♀️🙊

if there is one thing I want to get across it is this. stop living YOUR life according to other people. stop making YOUR decisions based off of other people. stop determining YOUR worth based off of other people.

this is YOUR life. not his or hers or theirs. God instilled talents + dreams in you for a reason. they are your gifts. we all have them! what you do with those talents is your gift back to Him.

and here I am now, weighing less with smaller clothes. okay, cool!? beyond that- I love myself. I smile + mean it. I don't feel sick. I know HOW to take care of my body. my skin has gone from constant breakouts to a smooth complexion. *insert all other positives that have come from my decision to say yes*

Pro tip! Enhance nutrient absorption and ease digestion of grains by..... soaking them!

Yesterday I rinsed #quinoa in a fine mesh strainer, added a splash of #applecidervinegar and soaked it in this pot for around 7hrs. Then I rinsed it again (to get rid of what's called phytates - these may cause bloating and the toots!) Then I filled the pot with fresh water and cooked like normal.

If you soak the quinoa long enough, you should see the little sprouts pop out! Get #excited! You can also sprout other #wholegrains like rice, buckwheat (are my favs). IRL: I don't remember to soak grains all the time, but even if it's an hour or so before a meal, I try to soak for even just a short time - cuz a little is better than nothing! Best to think of it in the morning, but #lifehappens
