#breakingnews Ninjaman and his son, Jamiel, were found guilty of murder in the Home Circuit Court on Monday.
The dancehall legend, real name Desmond Ballentine, his Jamiel, and Dennis Clayton were found guilty by a seven-member jury who deliberated for three hours. According to the prosecution, the three men murdered 20-year-old Ricardo Johnson, aka Ricky Trooper, from Marl Road, Kingston 13 in March 2009. The three weeks trial was held in camera behind closed doors, which means the public or the media did not have access to the courtroom.
Ninjaman, 51, and his two co-accused are facing life imprisonment for the crime. He will be back before the judge next month for his sentencing hearing and is currently behind bars. During the month-long trial, the prosecution introduced seven witnesses including a man who is in witness protection who testified that the three men fired two shots at him but he ran for his life. He was the star witness for the prosecution who argued that on the day of the murder, the three men had an argument with Johnson who was sweeping a yard on Marl Road. The men then left the scene and returned a short while later with guns blazing.
Following an investigation, cops arrested Ninjaman and his co-accused. The dancehall deejay was granted a JM$2 million bail in 2012 following numerous delays in the trial. The case has seen 23 mentions in the court and 17 delays up until last month when a judged revoked the deejay’s bail and ordered the trial be concluded. The murder case was tried in a special court that deals with cases over five years old with Justice Martin Gayle presiding over the high profile case.
Ninjaman and his two co-accused have maintained their innocence and will likely appeal the conviction. He will likely be housed in the same Tower Street prison as Vybz Kartel. #susstv #dancehallnews

Subject : "William's Case Summary"
On Saturday, February 7, 1987 approximately thirty - five to forty other people were present at Will's Players Lounge on the intersection of 55th and Spruce Street in West Philly. An argument erupted between two individuals from different groups in the bar. The bartenders told the two groups to take their dispute outside. Many patrons went outside to watch two individuals lock in a fierce fist fight. An unidentified member of the crowd held a gun to Derrick "Ditto" Walker's head firing a shot killing Walker instantly. The assailant then fled.
A week later on Sunday, February 14, 1987 after attending Walker's funeral - " who was a neighborhood friend, growing up as youths" William was arrested and charged with the murder of Derrick "Ditto" Walker. On August 4, 1989 William was tried and convicted by a trial jury of first degree murder and sentenced to life imprisonment without parole. William's defense at trial was an alibi defense. He admitted that he had been present at the bar that night but, maintained that he left Will's Player’s Lounge prior to any fight or shooting. William produced several witnesses to corroborate his version of events.
Presently, William has been fighting for freedom to prove his innocence of such a horrific crime. He's case has captured the attention of organizations such as Centurion Ministries and Temple University Innocence Project , who have reviewed, investigated and concluded and agreed that William was wrongly #convicted of a #crime he did not commit... The initial investigation done by the Philadelphia Police Department and District Attorney’s Office was at best sloppy and rushed by an over zealous prosecutor who only wanted to close the case. Also, Prosecutor only lone eyewitness five years later recanted his testimony that William wasn't the shooter and was coerced into identifying William as the person who shot and killed "Derrick "Ditto" Walker. William's conviction still was not over turned. #Pt2 #freewilliambailey @innocenceproject #signthepetition in my #bio #justice LINK IN @8st_riq BIO!!!!
