This installation on deck 6 of our museum is a little history of container shipping. Using miniatures in a scale of 1:1250, we display the evolution of container ships. It starts at the back with the Ideal X of Sea-Land Services. She was the first ship to carry containers in 1956. Her capacity of 58 35'-containers pales in comparison with the Post-Neo-Panamax Triple E-Class of @maerskline (in the front). This ship from 2013 can carry up to 18.270 TEU (twenty-foot Equivalent Unit, the international standard for containers nowadays). Of course, there are larger ships with more capacity nowadays and we plan to update the installation in the future.
