Im calling it officially spring... for myself. Even if today is just a glimpse, which it is, amid all the daily, planetary horrors- some of the land around me/us rejoices for a bit and i am soaking it up with my kid, while we ward off/make amends with season-in-transition-colds and head Out for some tree medicine. i came home with some thoughts to share- around the medicinal power of being human in relation to other living things- in this specific case, spruce and pine trees (specific varieties are next convo maybe?)
Im literally covered with and chewing on it all (these resins are humans first chewing gum tho i dont recommend going for it unless youre cool with the gum completely sticking to your teeth and roof of mouth until you rub it off with oil— worth it in my case/ plus i just cant resist). im absorbing some of the ways we can learn so so much from these allies about living and healing/ tending to wounds, standing tall and thriving, creating altars, releasing that which doesnt serve our needs/letting go of our creations and our work, about sensuality and awakeness, even accessing spiritual realms. And like us, i believe most trees want to be seen- they certainly are teaching me “being seen” medicine and have called me above ground with this work. Im Always in awe of how they proudly wear their wounds- draw / send out attention to those locations to heal, am deeply in love with their sides plastered , glued and dripping with their personal healing shields- their unique expressions in healing and growing. They beckon to us, speak to us, leave ladders to climb- leave lures to call us in close- show us where they had limbs and where they grow each year, how they heal old and new wounds. They move slow but fierce, they speak in cycles, with feminine and masculine energies that hum and receive and each tree does its revealing and living, dying, differently...all of it beautiful and sacred, and more important than ever for us to see and feel.
By the grace of these teachers and in my reverence of them i will have more conifer support in the shop, salve and oil as soon as packaging arrives this week.
