Two years ago, I went on the hunt for this beautifully fragrant vine to cover our arbor. Like most of my projects, I wanted immediate results and yet in Year 1, the vine barely grew up one side with no flowers. But I watered & weaved the vine through the arbor, encouraged by my friend Vickie, who promised it would soon grow.
Year 2: a few flowers bloomed as the vine grew on one side and began to reach the top. More weaving, more watering, little fragrance.
This Year, Year 3, the arbor took a hit during Hurricane Matthew and we've struggled to level it. The vine needed pruning and though it pained me to cut the branches, the result has been worth it. The fragrance is intoxicating and though it still sits lopsided, last week a friend told me that Jasmine means "God's Gift". Can you smell the jasmine on every corner of the lowcountry right now? When you do, receive it as a reminder of God's Gift - even if you are in a season of watering, weaving, storms or pruning - He will continue to grow a beautiful and most Fragrant flower. #jasmine #God'sgift #confederatejasmine #yellowstarjasmine
