Repost from @peoplehopeorg Caution: LIFE UNDER CONSTRUCTION! Chronic illness changes your body, but the experiences also re-shape your heart. [Oh how it re-shapes your heart in those long painful hours.] You can let your heart become bitter and angry toward your friends, toward your family, towards God. A lot of people do; it's the easiest thing to do. I've certainly wrestled with that through these last several years. But #peoplehopetribe, from one perpetually sick person to another, are you willing to stand up and actively protect your heart? Are you willing to put a stop to the bitterness and practice compassion and develop empathy and wisdom and character in its place? Sure, you'll still feel angry and sad and upset and confused at times. But, at least for me, I'm determined to come through this storm with a more GRACE-drenched, LOVE-saturated heart than when I first began.
With all my love,
