Combat side stroke or CSS is a variation of the side stroke that was developed by and taught to the United States Navy SEALs. Today it is used in All special operations and selection courses. The combat side stroke is a relaxing and very efficient swim stroke that is an updated version of the traditional sidestroke. The CSS is a mix of sidestroke, front crawl, and breaststroke. The benefits of the stroke are concealment and also it uses less energy than any other stroke. .
The double arm pull is a technique used to gain a great distance off the wall. Also used for underwater cross overs during test outs. In BUD/s, BRC, and Combat Dive School.
