IG Post vs. BTS
I personally have a love hate relationship with social media. IG allows me to find new places, connect with like-minded people and express myself creatively. However, it's easy to get caught up in how glamorous other people's lives are and makes one feel insignificant. I find myself admiring other people's IGs for different reasons. For example, seeing someone travel to all these different places and live in a nonconventional home. But I know behind each photo, there lies a story untold. Although the image may seem picture perfect, it doesn't mean that it was in that moment or that the person's life is perfect. And that's what brings me back to reality. Knowing life isn't perfect and we all have struggles. Whether it's a long term issue or just taking a damn nice photo for the gram.
As you can see, I'm very happy in my first photo and honestly I was very happy in that moment. But...behind the scenes, my friend was aggressively throwing confetti that had been stepped on and touched by many people. What you didn't see is that the confetti got stuck in my hair and on my clothes and it was a bit of a hassle to remove. 🙄
I've been told my life seems fun and adventurous and I do strive for that. But I still have many struggles and insecurities that I face everyday. I don't ever want my social media to give off a sense that my life is perfect or better than someone else's. In the end, we're all the human with different paths and different timelines. We all just have to remember not to get caught up with all the pretty feeds.
