As much as I love cocktails, my palate does have it’s deficiencies. A Martini, for instance, doesn’t do me any good - quite the contrary. Dry, dirty, 50/50 - doesn’t matter: to me, it’s like sipping on cold gin. The only Martini I ever liked is the one Jeroen and @hetlot serve at @apereau_blge - that one’s DELICIOUS. And this was not so long ago; been meaning to go back and get another one.
Encouraged by this step forward, I decided to try my hand at a Dirty Martini. I used @theherbalistgin, some olive brine and dry Dolin vermouth. My drinks about the feeling were… mixed. (Or is that the other way around?) It’s hard to make a good Martini, I’m sure, so I guess it’s back to the drawing board for me.
Or I could just go to l’Apéreau and let the specialists do the hard work for me…
7,5ml dry vermouth
7,5ml olive juice
Garnish: green olives
Combine the gin, vermouth and olive juice in a mixing glass and stir. Strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with as many olives as you’d like on a toothpick.
